Insect Problems

Not every pest problem fits neatly into a box like ants, fleas or wasps. Sometimes it’s just… insects where you don’t want them.

If you’ve noticed unusual bugs in your home or business and you’re not sure what they are, don’t worry — that’s exactly what we’re here for.

Common Insect Issues We Get Called To

Here are some of the more general insect problems we regularly help with:

Moths

Clothes moths and carpet moths can cause real damage before you even realise they’re there. If you’re finding small holes in fabrics, thinning carpets, or tiny moths fluttering near floors or wardrobes, it’s worth getting it checked.

Beetles

There are many different types of beetles that turn up indoors. Some infest stored food, others are linked to damp wood, loft spaces or even bird nests in roofs. The key is identifying the species properly so the right treatment can be used.

Cluster Flies

These slow-moving flies often gather in lofts and wall voids, especially in autumn. They don’t breed indoors, but they can be a real nuisance when they start appearing around windows. By the way they are not flies the way we think of flies.

Stored Product Insects

Tiny beetles or moths in kitchen cupboards are often linked to dry foods like flour, cereals, rice, pasta or pet food. These infestations can spread quietly through cupboards if not dealt with properly.

Other Crawling Insects

Occasionally people call about woodlice, silverfish, earwigs or other crawling insects. While some are more of a nuisance than a danger, large numbers usually mean there’s an underlying moisture or access issue that needs sorting.

Why Identification Matters

Different insects behave in completely different ways. Some breed in fabrics, some in food, some outside but wander in, and others point to damp or structural issues.

That’s why proper identification is the first step — treating the wrong pest wastes time and money.

You’re always welcome to send a photo via WhatsApp and we will happily help identify what you’re dealing with free of charge. If we cannot work out what it is from your photo we can send a sample off to the lab for a professional identification (this does incur a small fee).

It’s time to get help if:

• You’re seeing insects regularly indoors
• The numbers seem to be increasing
• You’re finding damage to fabrics, food or furnishings
• Shop products haven’t solved the problem
• You simply want peace of mind

Even insects that seem minor can become established if left untreated.
• Identify the insect properly
• If it’s possible, find out where they’re coming from
• Treat the problem at its source where possible
• Give you practical advice to help stop it returning

Every situation is a bit different, so treatments are tailored to your home or business.

Not Sure What You’ve Got?

That’s very common — most people aren’t expected to know about every pest insect! Just get in touch, describe what you’re seeing (or send a photo), and we will guide you from there. Friendly advice is always free
